WHAT IS ELECTROLYSIS
Although electrolysis has been practiced for over 100 years, it's still a mystery for many people. Simply put, electrolysis is a hair-by-hair removal procedure accomplished by the use of a small, sterile filament which is gently placed into the natural opening of the hair follicle. A small measured electric current is applied which damages the root of the hair, breaks down the hair growth tissue surrounding the hair and causes the hair to be released. It is then removed from the follicle. This action prevents future hair from growing.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT METHODS?
3 recognized modalities, or methods, are currently being practiced today.
~Galvanic - The hair root and tissue is broken down by way of chemical action.
~Thermolysis - The hair root and tissue is broken down by way of heat production. .
~Blend - A combination of both Galvanic and Thermolysis currents where both modalities are used simultaneously.
Many Electrologists are trained in one specific method but all should be able to offer and feel comfortable using all 3 modalities. In the right hands all modalities can be safe and effective.

During each treatment; one time use disposable probes/filaments, gloves and sterilized tweezers are used. These, along with the sanitation and disinfecting protocol of the salon and the thorough training and education of the electrologist, all lend to a safe experience.
